Many of us can recall the days when a visit to the doctor meant considerate,
gentle care, complete trust, and a genuine relationship between patient and physician.
In this age of health management organizations (HMOs), such care may be rare, but it
is not extinct. Dr. Allen South is a physician for whom the practice of medicine still
combines the preventative “health” and personal “care” of women’s health
care.
A NEW OFFICE, A SEASONED PROFESSIONAL
After more than 20 years practicing OB/GYN in eastern Washington (where he delivered
more than 5000 beautiful babies), Allen South changed his focus and moved his practice.
He and his wife now live and work in downtown Seattle, where his practice is now devoted
entirely to gynecology. Conveniently located in the Nordstrom Medical Tower, where you’ll
find plenty of reasonably priced parking, the office is easily accessible to residents
throughout Puget Sound.
MEET DR. SOUTH
Dr. Allen Gregg South has been a practicing obstetrician/gynecologist for
more than 20 years. A Diplomate of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology,
he is a Clinical Assistant Professor of OB/GYN at the University of Washington Medical School and is on
staff at Swedish Medical Center. Dr. South earned his medical degree from Northwestern University and completed
his residency at Stanford. A Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, his practice now focuses
solely on gynecology. A former resident of eastern Washington, he and his wife have two grown children and now live
in Seattle, where they spend time enjoying the arts and dancing the tango.
WHY A MALE VS. FEMALE PHYSICIAN?
Recently it has become popular for some women to choose a female gynecologist on the basis of gender alone.
While this is understandable, there are many excellent male physicians who relate well to women and with whom women
feel very comfortable. Dr. South is one of
these doctors.
TEACHING
Dr. South is actively involved in the teaching of medical students and residents at the University of Washington Medical
School. He works with the residents in the gynecology clinic, gives oral exams and supervises the teaching of pelvic exams.
He also lectures on gynecologic cancer, endometriosis, and infertility. He is on the teaching panel at Swedish Medical Center.
